The victim is currently hospitalized, according to police.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A teenage girl is hospitalized after she was reportedly shot by a 24-year-old relative of hers, Arlington police say.

According to the Arlington Police Department, the girl was shot at Friday at her home along East Lynn Creek Drive. There were reportedly two other children in the room when the shooting happened.

Police say they’ve identified the suspected shooter as Erick Montgomery, a member of the victim’s family.

Montgomery was arrested by police Saturday afternoon at the home where the shooting took place, officials said. 

Police charged Montgomery with aggravated assault family violence with a weapon causing serious bodily injury. Montgomery was also charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after learning he had a prior felony conviction.

Due to the two children being in the room at the time of the shooting, police also charged Montgomery with child endangerment.

Montgomery is currently in the Arlington City Jail according to police.
