Four restaurants were temporarily closed and some were noted to have issues with rodents and insects during the latest round of Tarrant County health inspections, according to the inspection report.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from March 1 through March 14 and 289 inspections.
Tarrant County Public Health inspects all food establishments in the county except for those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills. Inspections are conducted on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor.
Four food establishments were temporarily closed:
Candy Chips & More, located at 1101 Melbourne Road in Hurst, had a score of 88. Inspectors found rodent feces on shelves and bottled drinks in the back area, and noted that the area smelled heavily of rodent urine, in addition to lacking hot water and floor drains. The establishment was later approved to reopen after taking care of the pest issue, according to the report.No 1 Chinese Restaurant, located at 6325 Wichita Street in Forest Hill, had a score of 64. Both living and dead roaches were found in multiple areas. Inspectors found a dead rodent on an at-home sticky trap and noted that the back area smelled of rodent urine. The establishment was later approved to reopen after pest control measures, according to the report.Avocados Food, located at 3000 Grapevine Mills Parkway in Grapevine, had a score of 84. The establishment closed voluntarily due to a lack of hand soap, sanitizer, and running water. The establishment later reopened after obtaining soap and sanitizer and restoring hot water service.Murphy Express 8881, located at 2100 Hall Johnson Road in Grapevine, had a score of 95. The location closed voluntarily due to a lack of hot water, and later reopened when hot water service was restored.
Mamacitas Sports Bar, located at 5103 Azle Avenue in Sansom Park, had a score of 79. Inspectors observed a dead roach beneath the ice machine.
