CONVERSE, Texas – A massive fire involving multiple semi-trailers broke out Saturday afternoon, prompting hazmat crews to handle the situation.

Fire crews were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to Farm-to-Market 1516 North, where they found three semi-trailers engulfed in flames, including a fuel tanker, according to Bexar County ESD # 10 Fire Chief Dewey G. Coy. Thick smoke and intense fire conditions required a coordinated effort to bring the blaze under control.

During the incident, an estimated 400 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the tractor-trailers, raising environmental and safety concerns. County hazmat teams were called to the scene and successfully contained the spill, preventing further spread or contamination.
