The Texas A&M Forest Service is reporting an active fire in San Patricio County on the outskirts of Sinton along Highway 89.
SINTON, Texas — Update: Fire Chief Albert Castillo said  crews were able to get the fire 100% contained as of around 8pm.
A grass fire burning in San Patricio County is now 75% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
The fire is located along Highway 89 on the outskirts of the city. Authorities say crews responded quickly to contain the flames as they spread through dry grass in the area.
San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera said the fire started near the entrance of Steel Dynamics and was caused by children shooting fireworks. Fire departments from Sinton, Odem, and Taft all responded to the scene to assist with containment efforts.
Ongoing Fire Risk Across the Region
The fire comes as parts of the Coastal Bend remain under a fire weather concern, with conditions continuing to favor wildfire spread.
While winds are expected to be slightly calmer over the Brush Country, they are still forecast to be gusty, and when combined with very low relative humidity, they create an elevated fire risk.
A Weather Impact Alert remains in effect for Sunday due to continued fire danger in the region.
