Evelyn James — founder and co-president of the Eco-Action Club at Incarnate Word Academy — has been selected to serve as a Youth Ambassador at the upcoming Ocean Progress Symposium in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2025.

The event, held as part of the America the Beautiful for All Coalition gathering, brings together leaders, scientists, and advocates dedicated to advancing sustainable ocean stewardship. Evelyn will represent Gulf Coast youth, sharing her vision for inclusive and innovative approaches to ocean conservation and sustainability.

The symposium will focus on shaping a future where ocean protection goes hand in hand with access, equity, and quality, supporting the national goal of conserving 30% of U.S. coastlines.

Incarnate Word Academy and the Diocese of Corpus Christi expressed pride in Evelyn’s achievement, noting her leadership through the Eco-Action Club, which promotes environmental awareness and action among students.

Adding to the celebration, Incarnate Word Academy was recently recognized by Niche as one of the Best Schools in the U.S., further highlighting the institution’s commitment to excellence both in academics and community impact.

Evelyn’s participation at the Ocean Progress Symposium marks not only a personal milestone but also a significant moment for the Gulf Coast — as local voices join the national conversation on protecting the planet’s most vital resources.
