Arlington Police say a woman pistol-whipped another individual outside a bar before driving off drunk with children in the vehicle.
ARLINGTON, Texas — A woman was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years old, police said
Officers with the Arlington Police Department responded on March 21 to a bar in the 500 block of E. Front Street to investigate a reported fight, the police department said in a press release. When they arrived, police said they found a 21-year-old woman who told them she had gotten into a verbal argument with a family member, identified as 33-year-old Dominic Echols.
The argument escalated into a physical fight outside the bar, police said. Echols retrieved a gun and pistol-whipped the victim, police said, before leaving the scene in her vehicle with several other people, including children.
No shots were fired during the altercation. The victim was not seriously injured and did not require transport to a hospital.
Officers located Echols at her Grand Prairie home and took her into custody without incident.
Police said they learned through their investigation that Echols had been drinking before she left the bar.
The officers performed a series of roadside sobriety tests on Echols and arrested her on one count of DWI with a child under 15 years of age, as well as one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence, police said.
Police recovered the weapon used in the alleged assault. A search warrant was also obtained for a blood sample, which was collected and will be sent to a lab for further analysis, officials said.
