HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in southeast Houston on Saturday evening, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were in the area when they heard gunshots at around 6:30 p.m.

Officers reported finding a man shot in the street in the 4800 block of Jarmese Street, near Calhoun, and said the suspect had fled once they arrived.

Houston police said the officers attempted life-saving measures before the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details are limited. Investigators have not said what led to the shooting.
