Auburn baseball falls to Texas in the last game of the weekend series 5-0 losing the series 1-2 to the Longhorns.

This marks the second game of the season where Auburn were shut out in the scoring column. The Longhorns slowly pulled away getting two runs in the second inning and two more later in the fourth. Their final score came across in the fifth inning.

Auburn worked in a multitude of pitchers this ballgame, with a total of nine. This was Alex Petrovic first loss of the season. Offensively the Tigers only managed four total hits coming off the bats of Bub Terrell, Eric Guevara, Eddie Madrigal and Lucas Steele. Auburn next matchup is on Tuesday Mar. 24 against South Alabama in Montgomery, Alabama

Madrigal doubles but not enough for the Tigers as they do not score a run (Texas 5, Auburn 0 end of the ballgame)

Eddie Madrigal doubled to get the Tigers started in the bottom of the ninth inning. Taylor Belza walked placing to Auburn runners on first and second base. The first out came from Cade Belyeu struck out looking. Texas pulled Brett Crossland and replaced him with Max Grubbs.

Second out came from Chris Rembert struck out swinging. The game concluded with Chase Fralick flied out to right field.

Auburn in the 9th: 0 R, 1 H, 0 E

The Tigers keep the Longhorns from scoring (Texas 5, Auburn 0 mid 9th)

Robert Saxon took the mound for Auburn in the top of the inning. Texas’ Aiden Robbins walked and the advance to second base on a wild pitch. Adrian Rodriguez would be walked right after. The Tigers pull Saxon and brought in Abe Chancellor to the mound.

Temo Becerra struck out swinging for the first out. Anthony Pack Jr reached on a fielder’s choice to the shortstop with Rodriguez out at second. Robins advances to third. Auburn pulls Chancellor after injury and brought in Garrett Brewer. The Tigers put it away after Casey Borba struck out swinging.

Tigers still unable to get their bats going (Texas 5, Auburn 0 end 8th)

Bub Terrell began the at bat for the Tigers struck out swinging, followed by Ethin Bingaman grounding out to the shortstop. The plate appearances for the Tigers did not last long as Mason McCraine struck out swinging.

De Jong makes his first mound appearance (Texas 5, Auburn 0 mid 8th)

Justice De Jong makes his first appearances for the Tigers at the mound. He collects his first strikeout getting Jayden Duplantier swinging. The second out comes from Ethan Mendoza grounding out to second base. The Tigers put away the Longhorns as Carson Tinney fouled to third base.

Tigers fail to get runners across (Texas 5, Auburn 0 end 7th)

Auburn started with Lucas Steele reaching first on a throwing error by the pitcher. Steele is replaced with pinch runner Ty Thompson. Chris Rembert flied out to right field after a good defensive play by the Longhorns.

Texas made a change at mound for the third time of the game. The Longhorns brought in Ethan Walker for Sam Cozart. Auburn’s Chase Fralick walked advancing Thompson to second. The Longhorns change at the mound with Brett Crossland coming in. Eric Guevara grounds out for the final out of the inning.

Auburn holds Texas to one hit after a couple of pitching changes (Texas 5, Auburn 0 mid 7th)

Adrian Rodriguez singled through the left side to get the Longhorns started. Auburn’s Jett Johnston got Temo Becerra swinging to strike him out for the first out. The Tigers made a late pitching change pulling Johnston for Ethan Harden.

Anthony Pack Jr. walked advancing Rodriguez to second, followed by Casey Borba fouled out to first base. The Tigers made another change at pitcher with Connor Gatewood coming for the Tigers. Gatewood collects the final out by striking out Maddox Monsour.

Texas defense remains strong (Texas 5, Auburn 0 end 6th)

The struggles did not stop with Bub Terrell struck out swinging to start the bottom of the inning. Ethin Bingaman responded with a good plate appearance seeing seven pitches and would draw a walk. Second out of the inning came from Mason McCraine grounding out to second base with Bingaman advancing to second.

Brandon McCraine popped up to second base to put away the inning. Auburn heads into the seventh scoreless with a lot of work to do to stay in this one.

Auburn puts away the top of the inning quick (Texas 5, Auburn 0 mid 6th)

Texas’ Jayden Duplantier fouled out to first base. Then the second out came in a pop up to the shortstop by Ethan Mendoza. Carson Tinney would get walked, but the Tigers put away the inning after Aiden Robbins grounded out to third base.

Three up, three down as the Tigers remain scoreless (Texas 5, Auburn 0 end 5th)

Sam Cozart took the mound for the Longhorns replacing Dylan Volantis after throwing 94 pitches. The first out came from Chris Rembert pop up to second base, which was followed by Chase Fralick struck out swinging for the second out. The final out was Eric Guevara popping up to the shortstop. Auburn still cannot find any runs as Texas continue to lead.

Chatterton day ends in just 17 pitches after allowing walks replaced with Johnston (Texas 5, Auburn 0 mid 5th)

Texas got on base early with Adrian Rogriguez being walked. Temo Becerra singled to center field advancing Rodriguez to second base. Auburn’s Christian Chatterton walked Anthony Pack Jr loading the bases and ending his day at the end in just 17 pitches.

The Tigers replaced Chatterton with Jett Johnston making his second of the appearance of the series. Texas’ Casey Borba grounds for a double play leading to Becerra being thrown out, Pack Jr. advancing to second and Rodriguez scoring. Auburn puts away the top of the fifth inning after a Maddox Monsour pop up.

Auburn remains scoreless (Texas 4, Auburn 0 end 4th)

First two plate appearances for the Tigers lead to two outs in Mason McCraine struck out swinging and Brandon McCraine grounding out to third base. Lucas Steele singled to left field but would be followed by Bristol Carter grounding out to the pitcher on a bunt. The Tigers continue to struggle to put together a scoring inning.

Texas adds more runs to their lead retiring Petrovic for the day (Texas 4 , Auburn 0 mid 4th)

Longhorns Anthony Pack Jr. grounded out to first base in three pitches from Alex Petrovic. Texas responded with Casey Borba singling to right field in five pitches. The hits did not stop there as Ashton Larson singled to left field advancing Borba to second.

Maddox Monsour came for Larson, he would forced out at second from a fielder choice hit by Jayden Duplantier. Left a runner of third and first for Texas, though the bases would be loaded after Petrovic walked Ethan Mendoza. Petrovic faced loaded base with Carson Tinney at the plate, Tinney singled to right field sending Mendoza to third, Duplantier and Borba to home.

Texas increase their lead with two runs. Petrovic was pulled for Christian Chatterton. Big save from Auburn’s Eric Guevara picking up Aiden Robbins grounded ball and throwing it to Ethin Bingaman at first to put away the top of third after the Longhorns continued to threaten.

First couple of hits for the Tigers (Texas 2, Auburn 0 end 3rd)

Chris Rembert lined out to the short stop for out one of the bottom of the third inning. It was followed by Chase Fralick popping up to second base for the second out. Auburn did finally get their first hit of the game off the bat of Eric Guevara singling.

It continued with a hit from Bub Terrell singling to right field advancing Guevara to second base. That marked two men on base for the Tigers in the first three innings just has not got a run across. Inning put away from a Ethin Bingaman grounding out to the pitcher. Longhorns pitcher Dylan Volantis pitch count sits at 77 pitches.

A strikeout from Petrovic to start the third inning, sending Ethan Mendoza back to the dugout. Longhorns Carson Tinney singled to left field, followed by a Aiden Robbins single to third base. Auburn collected the second out in a Adrian Rodriguez fly out. Texas’ Temo Becerra grounded out to put away the top of the third.

The Tigers Ethin Bingaman grounds out to second base in three pitches from Longhorn pitcher Dylan Volantis. Second out came in Mason McCraine struck out swinging in six pitches. His brother, Brandon McCraine walked in six pitches.

Auburn continues to increase Volantis’ pitch count with another batter walked in Lucas Steele, advancing Brandon McCraine to second. Final out of the inning comes in Bristol Carter striking out swinging.

Texas Becerra walked in five pitches from Petrovic. After walking Becerra, Petrovic collected a strikeout on Pack Jr. The Tigers did allow Texas Borba to homer one to left field sending him and Becerra across home plate for two.

Volantis pitch count at 30 (Texas 0, Auburn 0 end 1st)

The Tigers Bristol Carter got to first base on a walk, but a hit from Chris Rembert led to Carter being thrown out as Rembert beat the throw to first. Rembert managed to get a steal to second base. The second out of the inning came from Chase Fralick struck out swinging.

Eric Guevara was walked to first base. Finally the third out came from Bub Terrell fouling out caught by catcher Carson Tinney. Auburn’s solid plate appearances worked pitcher Volantis up to 30 pitches in that inning.

Alex Petrovic did a good managing the top of the first inning, only allowing on hit from the Longhorns in just four at-bats. First out was popped up to third base, second was Petrovic struckout Texas catcher Carson Tinney and third was a grounded out to third base.
