HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Clyde Hedrick, known for his association with the ‘Texas Killing Fields,’ murders died in Houston Saturday, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has confirmed.

Clyde Hedrick, who served eight years of a 20-year sentence for the 1984 death of Ellen Rae Simpson Beason, was released from a Texas prison in 2021.

Hedrick, then 67, was convicted in 2014 for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the 1984 death of Ellen Rae Simpson Beason, and was released in 2021 after serving eight years of a 20-year sentence.
According to court records released by Tim Miller, founder and director of Texas EquuSearch, Hedrick had a lengthy history of violent crimes and had said in the past he had murdered four to five women during the course of his life.
