See elaborately decorated floats, featuring intricate altars, stunning catrinas, and costumed riders, all joyously celebrating life and honoring loved ones.
The colorful procession begins at 7 PM from Lexington Avenue, and you’ll be able to catch the first float as it travels through the Arneson River Theatre at approximately 7:45 PM.

13th Annual Muertos Fest at Hemisfair

Head to Hemisfair for the 13th Annual Día de los Muertos, a two-day celebration packed with rich culture and joyous activities. You’ll be captivated by live music on five stages, vibrant processions, and original artwork, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable atmosphere.
One of the biggest highlights is the largest open altar exhibition in San Antonio, where the community comes together to create stunning altars honoring departed loved ones.
While you’re there, you can also explore the Muertos Mercado for unique crafts from local vendors and even get creative with kid-friendly workshops.

Calaverita Run 2025
Gear up to celebrate life, community, and tradition at the Calaverita Run 5K, a joyful and unforgettable evening where you honor loved ones during Día de los Muertos in San Antonio! Be sure to wear your best calavera-inspired outfit to fill the course with color and spirit.
You can wear a photo of a loved one on your race bib as you run and write their name on the special “For Whom Do You Run” wall.
After you cross the finish line, immediately join the festive celebration featuring local vendors. Then, take a meaningful moment to visit the community altar where you can place photos of your loved ones in a beautiful, collective display of remembrance and honor.

Painting with DiZurita: Day of the Dead Alebrije Art
Add a splash of color to your Dia de los Muertos San Antonio celebrations with Painting with DiZurita: Day of the Dead Alebrije Art! This lively, hands-on workshop invites guests to channel their creativity alongside the talented and charismatic international artist Gio DiZurita.
With her infectious energy and expert guidance, you will create your own vibrant acrylic masterpiece, an 11×14 canvas inspired by the enchanting world of alebrijes.
In Mexican folk tradition, alebrijes are symbols of transformation, creativity, and even spiritual guidance, believed by some to serve as protectors or spirit guides. They’re also known for their dazzling colors and imaginative shapes, blending elements of real and mythical animals.

Día de los Muertos at Mezquite
Hosted at Pullman Market, this four-day celebration brings together music, food, and tradition for an unforgettable fiesta that honors the season with true San Antonio flair.
The schedule is packed with themed events from Muertos Mariachi nights and spooky Halloween pachangas to colorful face painting, live DJs, and costume contests for both kids and adults. Families can also enjoy trick-or-treating around the market by day, then dance the night away as mariachis and DJs take over the Mezcaleria.
The celebration continues all weekend long with Muertos at Mezquite on November 1 and 2, featuring daytime music sets, face painting on the Karnes Patio, and a stunning Catrina Costume Contest to close out the festivities.

Dia de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones

The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office presents the eighth annual Día de los Muertos: Celebrando las Misiones. The celebration pays tribute to the descendants of San Antonio’s iconic Missions, honoring generations of families who helped shape the city’s cultural legacy.
Throughout the day, guests can join a lively procession and enjoy traditional dances. But, one of the most touching traditions of the event is the remembrance tribute. Visitors are encouraged to contribute photos of departed family members and friends, which will be included in a moving slideshow displayed on the big screen at Mission Marquee Plaza.

Head to The Rock at La Cantera for an interactive Día de los Muertos experience filled with flavor, art, and local charm.
You can indulge in classic Día de los Muertos treats like sugar skull cookies and sweet bread, browse unique finds from local vendors at the market, and even get into character with striking skull makeup from talented face painters.

Día de Muertos at Esperanza Peace & Justice Center
Celebrate the heart and soul of Dia de los Muertos San Antonio at Día de Muertos 2025 at the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, a vibrant, family-friendly festival that captures the true spirit of community and remembrance.
The event features more than 20 beautifully crafted community altars, bright cempasúchiles planted by la comunidad, and an eye-catching community tapete that adds a touch of artistry to the festivities.
Guests are also encouraged to join the lively procession that winds through the Westside, from the Rinconcito to the Alázan-Apache Courts, alongside the danzantes of Kalpulli Ayolopaktzin.
You can take part in the offerings by bringing flowers, candles, and printed photos of loved ones to honor this year. Digital photos can also be emailed to ofrendas@esperanzacenter.org by October 30 to be included in the community altar.
And don’t forget to dress up like a calaca and bring along instruments or noisemakers, the more spirited, the better!

According to tradition, the butterflies that migrate through San Antonio in the fall are believed to carry the souls of departed loved ones, returning to visit, bless, and comfort those they left behind. So this November 1, Mariposas on the Plaza offers an evening of capturing the spirit of this belief.
The plaza will come alive with gentle acoustic music, the scent of sweet treats, and the warm glow of the cathedral in the background. You are invited to dedicate a butterfly in memory of someone special, which will be placed among the trees, turning the plaza into a fluttering tribute of remembrance and hope.

Dia de los Muertos Night Market
Attend the Dia de los Muertos Night Market and find truly unique artisan treasures!
There will be plenty of local vendors offering goods like beautiful jewelry from Katie May and Linked Visions, hand-embroidered art from Bitchin’ Stitchin’, and journals from Sweet and Savory Journals, alongside many other original creations from Happy Mama Designs and Trinket Amor.
You can also gain direct access to the Dia de los Muertos parade, enjoy local art installations, and find festive food options at Q Kitchen | Bar.
