Cosmic Cafe has returned.
The beloved vegetarian restaurant in Oak Lawn has reopened, according to media reports.
After more than 25 years in business, the quaint cafe at 2912 Oak Lawn Ave. closed in 2021. Dallas Morning News food reporter Sarah Blaskovich called it among the most heartbreaking restaurant closures of the year.
Deepak Chalise, who was the cafe’s main chef for more than two decades, told the Dallas Observer he’d been working on buying it from the original owner. When asked if the restaurant will be different, Chalise told the Observer it would not.

The wide-ranging menu offered Indian staples but also fusion twists such as Pizza Mystica and Portabella Trance.
The restaurant is open as of now, with full service expected by Monday, March 30, the Observer reported.
