The driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were both ejected from the bike after a crash involving a parked vehicle, officials said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle that happened last week that resulted in the death of the driver.

According to police, officers were called on March 19 about the crash, which involved the motorcycle and a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Woodbrook Street.

Upon arrival, police say officers found the motorcyclist and his passenger, both of whom were reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital, police say, but the driver later died from his injuries on Sunday, March 22. The passenger, who officials say was wearing a helmet, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the driver had tried to avoid an animal in the road while traveling westbound on Woodbrook Street but lost control.

Police will release the identity of the victim once next of kin have been notified.
