With reigning champion Florida eliminated at the hands of Iowa (120-1) on Sunday evening, the men’s tournament winner odds board experienced its first real shakeup.

The Gators had the fourth-best odds (+750) to cut down the nets before their elimination, and their place has now been taken by 2-seed Houston, which has +700 odds to win the tournament and +130 favorite odds to win the South region. Illinois has the second-best odds to reach the national semifinals from the region (+230) and the sixth-best odds to win the national championship (14-1).

Editor’s Picks

Just ahead of the Illini is Purdue, which has continued to climb the odds board for the tournament, opening at 30-1 and now standing at 13-1. Meanwhile, the 1-seeds are jockeying for position at the top, with Arizona leading at +330, Michigan next at +340 and Duke third at +370.

Any of the favorites winning the national championship would be a positive result for many sportsbooks, including BetMGM, which said as much in a release. The book’s senior trader, Michael Ranftle, noted that St. John’s (35-1) and Arkansas (40-1) are its largest remaining liabilities.
