Upcoming projects

North San Antonio

Bulverde Road Phase 2 project

Project: Part of San Antonio’s 2022-27 bond program, Phase 2 will construct improvements on Bulverde Road from Green Spring Drive to Redland Road. These include new sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches, drainage and bicycle facilities. The project will also address road wear and tear and an existing low-water crossing.

Update: Currently in the design phase, the project will widen the road to 86 feet, expand it to four lanes, add a center turn lane, and add a sidewalk and a shared-use path, as well as drainage improvements and utility adjustments. The estimated construction start date was moved from summer 2025 to summer 2026, according to city documents.

FM 1103

Project: Work on this project will consist of the expansion of the roadway from two lanes to four lanes, with a raised median or continuous left-turn lane, bike lanes and sidewalks.

Update: Traffic on FM 1103 was shifted in February, initiating the third phase of the project. Construction is underway on the southbound lanes, while the northbound lanes were re-striped to accommodate one lane of traffic in each direction. Drivers should anticipate delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time or use alternate routes when possible.

Ralph Fair Road Cibolo Creek Bridge

Project: A new bridge is being constructed over Cibolo Creek in Fair Oaks Ranch. The new bridge is designed for a 100-year storm event, ensuring it will not flood over the bridge. The bridge project will also provide for a sidewalk and a shared-use path, along with access to city trails.

Update: The bridge is expected to be fully open, and all impacted roadways around the bridge will be cleaned up by April. On March 5, TxDOT contractors moved and painted safety barriers along FM 3351 Cibolo Creek Bridge. TxDOT recently completed a traffic survey on Ralph Fair Road, considering a speed limit reduction to 50 mph from Ammann Road down to the Camp Stanley entrance.
