WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Waco was not selected in The Boring Company’s “Tunnel Vision Challenge,” a contest that would have brought a free, one-mile underground transportation tunnel to the city.
The company announced on X Tuesday morning that Dallas, New Orleans and Baltimore were the winning cities.
Waco was among 16 finalists in the challenge and proposed the “Magnolia Loop,” a project aimed at reducing local traffic.
The company opened submissions in January, asking cities to send proposals highlighting a problem a tunnel could help solve.
The Boring Company said it is now beginning meetings with city leaders in the winning cities as the construction process gets underway.
