Local 8-year-old receives adaptive tricycle from AMBUCS

  • March 24, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock 8-year-old will be able to move around and play as he pleases thanks to a special bike he received Monday.

The Lubbock Monterey chapter of the American Business Clubs donated the tricycle to Zander Mungia on Monday afternoon at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion on the campus of Texas Tech.

As he continues to grow, the chapter wants to continue providing this special equipment to help him get around, all at no cost to the family. This is his third Amtryke.

Zander’s mom, Bri Saperales, said the donation helps give kids a sense of confidence, as well as parents.

“It’s important to receive these gifts so more kids can see it is possible — that there are things for them to do and for families to see, you know, it is possible for my kid to get outside and do things and ride the bikes with all of the other kids,” Saperales said.

Lubbock Monterey AMBUCS relies on donations from the community so it can provide Amtrykes to veterans and others who battle mobility issues.
