Scottie Scheffler withdraws from Texas Children’s Houston Open; Matt Kuchar to replace him

  • March 24, 2026

Scottie Scheffler has decided to skip this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park, the PGA announced Tuesday.

Scheffler cited family commitments as the reason for his absence from this weekend’s tournament. Veteran Matt Kuchar will replace Scheffler in Houston.

Scheffler has had a string of strong Houston Open performances in recent years, finishing as the runner-up in three of his last four appearances, including back-to-back second place finishes in 2024 and 2025.

According to a report from Golf Channel, Scheffler and his wife, Meredith, are expecting their second child. Their son Bennett, born in May 2024, will soon celebrate his second birthday.

Scheffler is expected to return to the PGA Tour spotlight at the Masters, where he’ll aim for his third green jacket.

A University of Texas at Austin alum, Scheffler is currently sixth in the FedExCup standings. With four wins in major championships since 2022, he is widely regarded as one of the world’s top golfers.
