AUSTIN, Texas — Amazon-backed autonomous vehicle company Zoox is getting ready to launch its robotaxi service in Austin.

Zoox plans to launch rides in high-demand downtown areas such as Rainey Street and Sixth Street. At first, only Zoox employees and their families will be able to hail rides. The company will then expand to its “early rider” waitlist in the coming months before a full public rollout.

The vehicles feature inward-facing seats and are built for fully autonomous travel.

Zoox has operated a test fleet in Austin since 2024. The company also runs driverless services in San Francisco and Las Vegas and plans to expand to Miami next.
