LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer was given the go-ahead to authorize and execute a special election day for an open seat on the Lubbock City Council.
On March 10, Brayden Rose announced his resignation from his seat on the council representing District 4. On March 18, that resignation went into effect.

Now, a special election voting day, and early voting dates, were determined.
Beginning on June 15, early voting will begin with polls closing on June 23.
The special election voting day will be on June 27 as determined by the requirements of Article 11, Section 11, of the Texas Constitution; Sections 3.004, 41.001, 201.023, 201.051, and 201.052 of the Election Code; and the City Charter.
On March 16, former councilman Gary Boren announced his candidacy for the open seat.
