Tyler, Texas (KETK) — East Texas nonprofits have exactly one week left to register for East Texas Giving Day, an 18-hour online fundraising event. The regional effort is scheduled for April 28.
The event is organized by the East Texas Communities Foundation, which reported that approximately 245 organizations have already signed up to participate this year. Foundation officials noted that there is still time for additional charities to join the initiative before the registration window closes on March 31. This collaborative effort is designed to support the work of nonprofit groups throughout the East Texas region.
The digital platform allows community members to select specific charities to support and view real-time donation totals for each cause.
Smith County District Clerk Penny Clarkston resigns
Kyle Penney, president of the East Texas Communities Foundation, explained that the platform enables organizations to achieve their specific goals through direct community engagement. By visiting the event website on the day of the fundraiser, residents can browse a list of charities and choose which local causes they wish to support.
“So what happens on that day is people go on and make contributions to their favorite charity,” Penney said. “So you pick the charity that you want to make a contribution to.”
The 18-hour online window will allow charities across the region to raise funds toward their individual targets.
