AUSTIN, Texas — A student at Anderson High School was found with a loaded gun on campus Tuesday morning, according to a letter sent to families.

Principal Brian Lancaster said the school received an anonymous report that a student may have brought a weapon on campus. Administrators worked with Austin ISD Police to place the school on a hold from 10:50 to 11:10 a.m.

Officers located the student and conducted a search, finding a loaded firearm in the student’s possession. Lancaster said there were no specific threats made against the campus, but that the presence of a weapon was being treated with the highest level of urgency.

“The safety of our campus is a shared responsibility,” Lancaster said. “This situation was resolved quickly because of the strong culture of trust we have built at Anderson.”
