DEL RIO, Texas – A late-night animal complaint in Del Rio ended safely after officers found a rattlesnake inside a home and had it removed without anyone getting hurt.
Del Rio Police Department officers responded on March 23, 2026, at about 11:54 p.m. to the 100 block of Irene Avenue in reference to an animal complaint.
Police said that when officers arrived, they discovered a rattlesnake inside a bedroom of the residence.
Officers evacuated the occupants to ensure their safety and requested assistance from Del Rio Animal Services, police said. Animal Services responded and removed the snake without incident. No injuries were reported.
Police also reminded residents that snakes commonly emerge from hibernation during warmer months, particularly between March and April, and that rattlesnakes may enter homes while seeking shelter, food, or relief from extreme temperatures.
Residents are advised to avoid approaching any snake and allow it to move away if possible. Police said people should remain aware of their surroundings, keep grass trimmed, and remove woodpiles, debris, and clutter where snakes may hide.
