The mayor of an East Texas town claimed in a social media post Sunday that her daughter was nearly abducted in Mount Pleasant. But according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the mayor’s claims aren’t correct, and video footage proves it.

Meanwhile, social media users have criticized Lone Star Mayor Brianna McClain for requesting an officer from her town leave the city limits to escort her daughter and friends back from Mount Pleasant.

McClain posted that her daughter was “nearly abducted” that night while she was with her boyfriend and friends at Walmart in Mount Pleasant. While in the parking lot, the group saw a man staring at the mayor’s daughter.
