SAN ANTONIO – A downtown construction site near Main Plaza was evacuated Friday afternoon after scaffolding along a 10-story building suddenly gave way.

The collapse happened around 2:15 p.m. on Friday on the East Commerce side of the structure, sending dust and debris into the street as crews and workers rushed to safety. No injuries were reported.

Police temporarily closed nearby streets to allow cleanup crews to clear the area and assess the damage. The area remained closed on Saturday.
