HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A fast-growing early childhood education and day care franchise is opening its third Houston-area center in Cypress.

The newest Lightbridge Academy will be at 8742 Barker Cypress Road, offering programs for children ages six weeks to prekindergarten. Lightbridge has two existing locations in Katy at 3321 Peek Road and 1711 Spring Green Blvd.

The 14,600-square-foot Cypress facility was built from the ground up for the academy. New Jersey-based DNA Architects served as the project’s designer. Connecticut-based First Hartford served as the general contractor. The new center will bring a total of 30-40 jobs for teachers into the community, Lightbridge Academy confirmed in an email.

The total cost of the project was approximately $3.5 million, according to a state filing.

Founded in 1997, New Jersey-based Lightbridge aims to strengthen children’s emerging skills in reading, writing, science, technology and math. The academy provides extended hours, optional meal plans and summer camp programs.
