A new campaign is being launched to garner support for the proposed Downtown I-10 Deck Plaza project.

“Elevate the 10” is a community-wide initiative led by the Downtown Deck Plaza Foundation to ” build support and continue momentum for the Deck Plaza, a vibrant park and gathering space that will reconnect (El Paso) neighborhoods, create green space, and become a signature destination for generations to come.”

“This isn’t just a downtown project,” the Foundation said in a news release. “It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape El Paso’s future for all El Pasoans.”

Through the website, residents can view potential plans for the project and add their names to a growing list of supporters.

The project has collected significant pledges of financial support since being announced in 2024, including $10 million from the Texas Legislature with a $584,000 city match, $25 million from the El Paso Metropolitan Planning Organization, $3.15 million in federal Community Project Funding, $1 million from El Paso County and $35 million in private philanthropy.

Most recently, the El Paso City Council approved contributing just over $560,000 toward a $10.6-million advanced funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to design the Deck Plaza tunnel and other structural supports.

“This agreement allows El Paso the ability to continue moving toward a project that not only improves our transportation corridor, but creates new opportunities for connection, public space, and economic vitality,” Mayor Renard Johnson said in a news release.
