Attention all Lubbock drivers: Construction on I-27 is set to close downtown lanes through April 30. Delays are to be expected.

Which Lanes Will Be Impacted?

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, alternating lanes heading north on I-27 between US 62 and US 82 will be closed.

Construction is expected to end on April 30 of this year, and all drivers should expect delays until then if they travel on this portion of I-27.

Common Destinations Impacted by Construction

Drivers should plan ahead if they are expected to visit any of the popular locations in downtown Lubbock:

Another project in Lubbock that isn’t set to be finished until October is the construction on Loop 88 along 130th Street in south Lubbock. Drivers along this route should expect delays and roadwork personnel directing traffic along the east and westbound lanes.

Also, median cable barriers are still being installed along US 84 from Anton through Littlefield. Alternating lanes will be closed through October of this year as well.

Finally, construction on US 87 from O’Donnell through Tahoka, south of Lubbock, will create lane closures through the end of this month.
