Beren Mediterranean will now be Beren Mezza and Grill House in the Near Southside.
The Turkish restaurant has moved locations from the Funky Town Food Hall at 1229 8th Ave. to a new spot in the modern looking PS1200 apartment complex at 1200 6th Ave. The new space was previously Maiden, a fine-dining vegan restaurant, that closed in the summer of 2025.
A handful of Mediterranean restaurants have been opening lately.
Tim Love’s Meraki just opened in the old Courtside Kitchen off University. Chadra Mezza and Grill reopened at their fifth location in south Fort Worth along Interstate 35W. Terra Mediterranean opened in the West 7th Entertainment District at the end of 2024. Beren has only been open since February 2025.

Beren has been recommended by Star-Telegram readers for their fresh ingredients and baklava.
Beren serves all the mezza favorites like hummus, babaghanoush, feta and pink sultan (a red beet dip).
Some modern takes on Mediterranean classics include a feta watermelon balsamic salad and Turkish bread panzanella salad. The menu also features lots of salmon.
And then of course kebabs, gyros and falafel.
Kebabs come in lamb, chicken, beef, shrimp, salmon but there are also the kofta skewers that are flatbread wrapped skewered ground meat.
Their baklava is flaky filo pastry dough layered with either chocolate, the traditional pistachio or walnuts.
Mezza starters and salads are $8 to $10. All the entrees are about $20, except for lamb chops, which are $28. Baklava is $11.50.
When will the new Beren Mezza and Grill House open?
The last day for Beren Mediterranean at Funky Town Food Hall off Magnolia Avenue was on March 22.
The new Beren Mezza and Grill House will open in early April at 1200 6th Ave., just down the street from their old spot.
