A child who overdosed and was revived by emergency responders in an unincorporated part of El Paso County led to the arrest of their mother on Tuesday, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Protection District medical personnel arrived at the residence in the 15400 block of Jessie Drive in the Gleneagle area around 10:15 a.m. following an emergency call reporting that the child was unresponsive and not breathing.
After multiple doses of Narcan, the child began breathing again and was taken to a hospital, the release states.
Deputies arrested the mother of the child, Meghan Anderson, 46, after they said she became “uncooperative” following the transport. The authorities obtained a search warrant and allegedly recovered drugs and “drug-related paraphernalia,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Anderson had not posted her $100,000 bond as of Wednesday afternoon on charges of child abuse, second-degree assault, attempted child abuse and reckless endangerment. She is scheduled to appear in an El Paso County courtroom April 1 in connection with the charges.
Anderson does not appear to have any other criminal history, according to court records.
