City Council approved a deal allowing the Wings to resume building their Far West Oak Cliff practice facility, with the team covering extra costs to move forward.
DALLAS — The long-anticipated Dallas Wings practice facility is moving ahead in Far West Oak Cliff after the Dallas City Council voted 13-2 on Wednesday to approve an amendment to the city’s agreement with the team.
The deal finalizes a development agreement allowing the Wings to take over construction of the new facility at Joey Georgusis Park. The project had been delayed since Feb 25, when council members deferred the item for further review.
Since then, the Wings have agreed to cover any additional construction costs beyond the city funds already approved, which helped clear the way for the council’s vote. The move comes as costs to construct the facility ballooned from $54 million to $81 million – driven in part, the city says, by changes in scope requested by the Wings.
The practice facility will be built on city-owned park property located at 1200 North Cockrell Hill Road.
CEO and Managing Partner of the Dallas Wings, Greg Bibb, said the Wings are eager to move forward
“We believe strongly the practice facility will provide our world class athletes with what they need and deserve to compete at the highest level while delivering real benefit to the citizens of Dallas, especially the residents of Far West Oak Cliff,” Bibb said.
He added that the organization remains committed to its role in the “redevelopment and revitalization of downtown Dallas” as work continues on the planned renovation of the city’s historic auditorium, expected to be completed in 2028.

“This vote today solidified Dallas’ long-term commitment to professional women’s sports,” said Councilmember Chad West, who represents District 1 and chairs the Ad Hoc Committee on Professional Sports Recruitment and Retention. “This was a critical step to get this practice facility and community amenity back on track.”
City documents also state the facility will include a community wing that is accessible to the public during scheduled hours with meeting rooms, two soccer fields adjacent to the building and a Chalk Hill Trail connection within the park.
“The practice facilities are very much needed in this part of Dallas, where communities have been neglected for far too long,” said Councilmember Laura Cadena.
Earlier this year, the Wings released its 2026 regular-season schedule, which included three games at the American Airlines Center in Downtown Dallas. You can view the full schedule here.
