LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Texas Tech University’s annual Day of Giving brought in more than $700,000 this year, surpassing fundraising goals and providing resources that will directly benefit students across campus.
The 1,923-minute campaign, a nod to the university’s founding year, mobilizes Red Raiders nationwide to contribute time and money toward student programs and campus resources.
“We can do more for our academic programs, student groups for student resources on campus like Red Raider pantry. A gift for $100 to the food pantry can fund groceries for a whole week,” said Shannon Wallace, Director of Day of Giving.
The funds raised go toward addressing immediate student needs, from food security to academic support to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
Every donation, regardless of size, contributes to breaking down obstacles that stand between students and success.
“The investment in Texas Tech from our Red Raider family really helps support for our students helps make more possibly for them while they’re here, remove barriers, open doors, just make their Texas Tech experience better as a whole,” said Wallace.
The Red Raider community extends well beyond Lubbock. With more than 40,000 students representing all 50 states and over 100 countries, the university’s alumni base spans the globe.
This year’s campaign exceeded its donor participation goal while raising funds for more than 100 different campus initiatives.
“Our Red Raider family is amazing they’re generous we can do so much more because of this. When we ask they step up, and they make things happen for our community. It’s a place like no other,” said Wallace.
While the Day of Giving lasted just two days, the impact on students and campus programs will extend far into the future.
