After a week off for finals, No. 1 UCLA (15-2) will return to competition at the Texas Invitational on March 27 and 28 against four Top 20 teams. The Bruins will face No. 12 LSU (13-9) and No. 6 Texas (13-5) for the second-straight tournament on Friday, March 27 at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex and No. 17 North Florida (12-8) and No. 16 Florida Atlantic (13-7) on Saturday, March 28 at ATX Beach. UCLA’s match against Texas will be streamed on Longhorn Network.

LAST TIME OUT

UCLA went 4-0 for the third consecutive week, downing three ranked teams at the East Meets West Invitational at Manhattan Beach March 13 and 14. The Bruins swept all four teams in the tournament, including No. 5 Texas, No. 8 Arizona State and No. 12 LSU, and dropped just two sets in the four matches. On court 1, Sally Perez and Maggie Boyd went 4-0 to extend their winning streak to nine. They are 16-1 on the year and have dropped just four sets. On court 2, Ensley Alden and Kaley Mathews also went 4-0, improving to 10-1 on the year and 6-0 on court 2. Harper Cooper went 3-0 with Alexa Fernandez on court 3 to improve to 16-0. Seven different Bruins are on double-digit win streaks – Cooper (16), Alden (15), Boyd and Perez (13), Ava Williamson (12), Mallory LaBreche (11) and Mathews (10).   

NCAA RECORD HOME WIN STREAK EXTENDED

The Bruins have won a NCAA record 36 consecutive home matches, their last home loss coming on April 1, 2023 to Florida State. UCLA, which is 12-0 in home matches this year, has one more remaining in 2026, a dual against CSU Bakerfield on April 14. 

BOYD LOOKS TO MOVE UP ALL-TIME WIN LIST 

With four more victories last weekend, senior Maggie Boyd increased her career victory total to 108, which ranks ninth all-time at UCLA. She is one win away from tying No. 8 Nicole McNamara (109), two away from matching Jaden Whitmarsh (110) and three back from No. 6 Megan McNamara (111). On Feb. 28, Boyd became the 11th Bruin to reach 100 career victories. She has 47 of her 108 wins with Perez, and the duo ranks No. 4 in school history for career wins as a pair.

THREE BRUINS STILL UNBEATEN

Three Bruins remain unbeaten on the year – sophomore Harper Cooper at 16-0, redshirt junior Kenzie Brower at 5-0 and redshirt sophomore Taylor Ford at 4-0. Cooper is 8-0 on court 3 and 8-0 on court 4 and has played with five different partners this year. Brower is 5-0 on court 5, 1-0 with Ford and 4-0 with Mallory LaBreche. Ford is 3-0 overall with LaBreche – 1-0 on court 4 and 2-0 on court 5 – and 1-0 with Brower on court 5.   

FRESH FACES

UCLA newcomers include junior transfer Ava Williamson, who was a second-team All-American in 2024 at Arizona State, and a freshman class that includes Junior Beach All-Americans Mallory LaBreche, Olivia Le Blanc and Alina Ryan, along with Jesse Dueck. Williamson has played in all 17 matches this season and is 16-1 overall, including 3-0 on court 3 and 2-0 on court 2. LaBreche is 11-2 on court 5 and 12-2 overall. Dueck holds a 10-1 record and has won four consecutive matches with Williamson on court 4. 

BRUIN COACHES

Entering her 13th year with the Bruins and third season as UCLA’s head coach is Olympian, national champion and UCLA Athletics Hall of Famer Jenny Johnson Jordan. The 2025 MPSF Coach of the Year, Johnson Jordan sports an overall record of 82-16 (.837) as she continues her 2026 campaign after guiding the Bruins to a 32-7 record and NCAA semifinal appearance in 2025. She guided the Bruins to the NCAA Championship finals in her first year, ending the 2024 campaign with a 35-7 record and a second-place finish at the Pac-12 Championship. As an assistant coach, she helped the Bruins win back-to-back NCAA titles in 2018 and 2019. Another Bruin national champion serves as an assistant coach. Kelly Reeves, the Bruins’ first-ever beach volleyball All-American and a 2011 NCAA indoor volleyball champion, returns for her third season on staff. Former AVP Beach Volleyball star Theo Brunner is in his first year as an assistant coach.

IN THE RANKINGS

UCLA remains ranked No. 1 in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Poll for the third consecutive week. The Bruins began the year as the preseason No. 1 and dropped to No. 2 after week 1 before regaining the top spot after week 3. Since 2018, no team has been ranked No. 1 for more weeks than the Bruins (46). USC has spent 27 weeks at No. 1 in the last seven years while TCU (10), Pepperdine (4), LSU (4), Stanford (2) and Florida State (1) round out the list. Overall, the Trojans have been ranked No. 1 a total of 50 times in the AVCA Poll, followed by UCLA (46), Pepperdine (17), TCU (10), LSU (4), Stanford (3). Hawai’i (1), and Florida State (1).

LOOKING AHEAD

UCLA will return to Southern California to compete in the Best in the West Tournament in Laguna Beach. The Bruins will face four Top 10 teams in No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 USC, No. 4 Cal Poly and No. 10 Long Beach State.
