Before his NFL career ended, Emmitt Smith made his mark as one of the game’s greatest running backs. Now, his son is looking to live up to that legacy.
On Wednesday, Texas A&M running back EJ Smith told reporters he has predraft workouts set up with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. EJ Smith and several other Aggies suited up for A&M’s pro day on Wednesday in College Station.

The Cowboys had a contingent on hand for the pro day, led by head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Schottenheimer has been busy evaluating talent this week, spending time at Texas’ pro day on Tuesday in Austin.

EJ Smith notably closed out his collegiate career at A&M after transferring in from Stanford. He played for the Aggies for two years. He ran for 969 yards and nine touchdowns throughout his time at A&M and Stanford. He also posted 71 catches for 470 yards and one receiving touchdown.
Before he moved on to the college ranks, EJ Smith was a Dallas-area high school standout at Jesuit. He finished his high school career rushing for 3,072 yards and 60 touchdowns while totaling 1,618 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 114 catches.
