Tarrant County grew by 18,428 people in 2025, the 15th biggest population gain in the nation, according to estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Five Texas counties were among the top 10 in growth: Harris (48,695 people), Collin (42,966 people), Montgomery (30,011 people), Fort Bend (24,163 people) and Williamson (23,814 people).
Growth slowed in a majority of the nation’s counties between July 1, 2024, and July 1, 2025, the Census said. Dallas County’s population fell by 2,616, the ninth biggest drop in the nation.
Tarrant County’s population of 2,248,466 ranks 14th nationally. Dallas County is eighth at 2,661,397.
In Tarrant County, there were 27,795 births and 15,350 deaths — a natural population change of 12,445 new people.
The county gained 12,762 people from international migration and lost 6,978 people to domestic migration.
Dallas-Fort Worth’s population grew by 123,557, second nationally behind the Houston metro area, which gained 126,720.
