When police began to approach the man, he advanced towards officers with a gun in his hand, according to the officials.

FORT WORTH, Texas — One man is injured after charging at Fort Worth police with a gun in hand, officials say. 

Officers responded to the 4200 block of Bonita Drive just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on a possible domestic disturbance taking place. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man in the middle of the street firing a gun towards homes in the area, police say. 

When police began to approach the man, he advanced towards officers with a gun in his hand, according to the officials. 

An officer fired their weapon, striking the suspect. According to police, officers immediately provided medical aid until Fort Worth Fire arrived. The suspect was transported to the hospital and is critically injured, police say. No officers were injured in the shooting. 

Fort Worth Major Case unit is continuing to investigate. FWPD says a press conference will be held in the coming days to release more information.
