The Dallas City Council sported Stars Green and made a proclamation honoring the team’s track record of success while in session Wednesday.
DALLAS — In its first session since the Dallas Stars clinched a spot in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Dallas City Council made a vocal and visual show of support, that could be seen as more than a little convenient, timing-wise.
Certainly, the Stars are worth any proclamation from their hometown – as noted in a press release Wednesday from the City of Dallas, the Stars have recently clinched their fifth consecutive playoff berth and their 21st since relocating to Dallas for the 1993-94 season, enough to make the Big D proud for generations. And that’s not even mentioning the magical Stanley Cup win of 1999.
Could the City Council be playing its part to make sure that the Stars’ next title run actually occurs within the city limits of Dallas and not in, say, Plano, or any other welcome North Texas environment?Â

Any cynic could say so, and the city stated plainly in its release that the Stars “remain a vital part of the city’s sports identity, uniting residents and showcasing Dallas on a national stage.”Â
It’s not a secret at this point where the Dallas City Council would like to see things end after the Stars make a final decision on their future home – and why should it be, given the franchise’s history of success in North Texas? To the council, the Stars and Dallas may seem to go together like wearing green and having good luck.

The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin Saturday, April 18 and the Stars’ first round opponent is yet to be determined, but fans can purchase first round tickets as soon as April 7 if they download the Official Dallas Stars Mobile App with notifications turned on, which allows you to get exclusive access to tickets, according to the NHL.Â
