The Rock Hill Blue Hawks will take on the Plano West Wolves at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Rock Hill’s pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Princeton as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Blue Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Madilynn Grossman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn’t given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter’s box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ali Sanchez was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and six RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tisha Singh, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Rock Hill hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Plano West entered their tilt with Plano East on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they’ll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that’s the closest win the Wolves have posted since February 19th.

The team relied heavily on Brooke Reasoner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Beetle Nell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Plano West’s victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Rock Hill, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Friday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Rock Hill hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it’s not like Plano West struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Rock Hill got the ‘W’ in their previous meeting back in February against Plano West by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Blue Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We’ll have the answer soon enough.
