More than a decade after breaking through with its moody, black-and-white aesthetic, the Neighbourhood remains a defining voice in alternative pop — and fans in Fort Worth can expect both nostalgia and new material when the band returns to the stage.
Formed in Southern California in 2011, the group built its following on a genre-blurring sound that mixes alternative rock, indie pop and hip-hop influences, anchored by frontman Jesse Rutherford’s brooding vocals. “Sweater Weather,” the breakout hit from the band’s 2013 debut album, I Love You, topped alternative charts and later became a streaming juggernaut, helping cement the group’s place in 2010s pop culture.
The band followed with Wiped Out! (2015), The Neighbourhood (2018) and Chip Chrome and the Mono-Tones (2020), producing fan favorites such as “Daddy Issues,” “R.I.P. 2 My Youth” and “You Get Me So High.”
After a hiatus earlier this decade, the Neighbourhood released a trio of singles in October before putting out its fifth studio album, Ultrasound, in November. The new tunes showed an evolving sound while maintaining the band’s distinctive hazy, atmospheric tone.
