BURLESON – Donna Jean Wilhoit Hutchens, a 50-year resident of Fort Worth, Texas, was called home on March 19, 2026, at the age of 90. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Greenwood’s Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; with a visitation one hor prior to service beginning at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the Live Oak Room from 1:15 – 3:15 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Donna was born April 6, 1935, in Ashmore, IL, to Glenn B and Lillie Burkett Wilhoit. She graduated from Martinsville High School in May 1953, and married her childhood sweetheart, Herbert Hutchens, on June 1, 1953. To this marriage, five children were born. Although she had a few jobs throughout the years, Donna spent most of her time caring for her children, husband and home. Once the opportunity to keep grandbabies came along, Donna’s careers ended; however, she was never idle! In addition to caring for grandchildren, she sewed, baked, was active in church and was always looking for ways to help others. She attended Southwest Christian/Trademark Church for more than 30 years. For several years, friends visited her weekly to make ceramics. Everyone loved her homemade cookies, and they became an expectation at hospital and family visits. After Herb’s retirement, they traveled across all 50 states and Europe, Australia and New Zealand. They met new friends wherever they traveled, and Donna kept in touch through cards and letters from around the world. Donna hosted an annual Christmas party for long-time friends. Even when dealing with declining health and cognizance, Donna was still visiting family and traveling, in her mind. Now she’s made her final journey home, where Jesus met her, along with Herb, Denny, and others who went before her. She will be greatly missed by the family she leaves behind: her daughter, Vicki (Gary) Wilson, of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Cheri (John) Tow of Crowley, TX; son, Randy (Susan) Hutchens of Joshua, TX; and son, Brent (Amanda) Hutchens of Springtown, TX; grandchildren, John, Lynnetta, Crystal, Jeanette, Loran, Branson, Caleb, Chelsea, Denver, Leah, and Carli; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron Cornwell, Frances & Bob Kraemer, Jane & David Silverberg, Douglas “Butch” & Susie Hutchens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who became family. Besides her parents and her husband of 71 years, Donna was preceded in death by infant son, Dennis Ray Hutchens; and siblings, Rex Wilhoit, Carrol Wilhoit, Maurice Wilhoit, and Joyce Cornwell.
