From dusty roadbeds to roaring interstates, Arlington’s transportation history takes center stage in the newest “Arlington Archives” episode, exploring how major thoroughfares carved the path for the city’s growth.
The City of Arlington has released the third episode of its historical podcast, titled “Crossroads of Change: How Major Thoroughfares Shaped Arlington.” The episode features host O.K. Carter in conversation with two of North Texas’ leading transportation experts: Michael Morris, Director of Transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and Victor Vandergriff, Executive Director of the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition.
Together, they examine how Interstate 30, Interstate 20 and the long‑gone but influential Bankhead Highway redirected Arlington’s development over the decades. From regional mobility planning to the evolution of some of the city’s most recognizable corridors, the discussion highlights how these roadways helped transform Arlington from a small community into a major urban center.
Produced in celebration of Arlington’s sesquicentennial in 2026, the series features voices from historians, city leaders and longtime residents. Future episodes will further explore Arlington’s history, spotlighting milestones and anniversaries in the city’s storied past.
