ARLINGTON, TX – The UT Arlington Mavericks softball team returns home this weekend to host Tarleton State for its first conference series at Allan Saxe Field.
The series also marks Tarleton State’s first conference matchup of the season, as the Texas opens league play in Arlington.
The Mavericks and Texans will begin the weekend with a single game on Friday, March 27 at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. CT.
UTA enters the weekend following a midweek contest at Baylor on Tuesday. Prior to that, the Mavericks opened conference play with a 2-1 series victory over Abilene Christian in Abilene last weekend.

GAME NOTES
UTA opened WAC play on a high note, securing its first conference series win of the season with a 2-1 mark at Abilene Christian last weekend. The Mavericks swept Friday’s doubleheader (12-8, 11-6) before dropping Saturday’s finale (7-2). UTA followed with a midweek loss to Baylor (8-0), moving to 13-16 overall.
The Mavericks rank first in the WAC in five categories: double plays (18), double plays per game (.62), home runs (31), home runs per game (1.07) and scoring (6.62).
UTA also ranks seventh nationally in double plays per game.
Peyton Holland leads the WAC in assists (69) and assists per game (2.38), while also ranking fourth in the conference with six home runs.
Mia McNulty ranks first in the WAC in home runs per game (.33) and second in total home runs with eight. She also sits third in the conference in runs per game (1.00).
Dee McClarity leads the conference in walks per game (.71).
Freshman Valeria Feeney ranks third in the WAC in triples per game (.11).
McNulty leads the Mavericks with eight home runs followed by Holland with six. Marley Neises ranks third on the team with five, while McClarity has four and Kelsey Creech has three.
