Demonstrators outside Houston City Hall for a No Kings protest on Oct. 18, 2025.
More than a dozen “No Kings” protests are scheduled for the greater Houston area on Saturday, marking the latest round of coordinated, nationwide demonstrations against President Donald Trump and his administration.
Thousands of No Kings protests are planned across the United States this weekend. The recurring demonstrations have been organized by a coalition that includes the 50501 movement — a grassroots organization that quickly spread online last year. The group’s name stands for 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement, and it was first proposed in late January 2025 on the social media site Reddit.
Multiple protests organized by the group have since been held in the Houston area, including a Presidents Day protest in February 2025 and No Kings demonstrations in June and October of last year.

According to the No Kings website, the movement represents a “nonviolent national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.”
The Republican president has drawn criticism, particularly from Democrats, over issues such as ramped-up enforcement of federal immigration laws, tariffs and their impact on the economy and the U.S. and Israel’s ongoing war with Iran.
