CCPD investigating after man found dead near Yorktown area

Officers found a deceased man near Sun Valley and Yorktown Thursday night. Police say no foul play is suspected.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department are investigating a scene near Yorktown and Sun Valley Dr. after a man was found dead on Thursday evening, according to CCPD PIO Officer Madeline Commons.

Commons said officers located the man around 6 p.m. in the area of Sun Valley Drive and Yorktown Boulevard.

She said that on Wednesday, a family reported a man missing around 8:30 p.m. He was last seen at approximately 4:30 p.m. that day.

On Thursday morning, CCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division began looking into the missing person report. Detectives used location data to focus their search near Sun Valley and Yorktown, deploying a drone unit and K-9 team.

During that search, officers found a deceased man, according to Commons.

CCPD officials could not confirm the identity of the man, but did confirm that he was the same age as the man who was reported missing on Wednesday.

Additional units remained on scene Thursday evening to assist with the search and investigation.

Commons said no foul play is suspected at this time.
