BENBROOK – Gerald F. Martin (Jerry), age 90, of Benbrook, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Born on February 14, 1936, in Houlton, Maine, Jerry lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, service, and a love for family. He spent much of his life in Benbrook, TX. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base. Following his military service, he went on to retire from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In his retirement, Jerry enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife Joan and their dogs. He looked forward to time on the road and particularly loved trips to Port Aransas. He also had a fondness for classic cars, interests that brought him much enjoyment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Martin and Frances McNally Martin; his brothers, Thomas Martin and Leon Martin; and his sister, Mariette Martin Ross. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Joan Thorne Martin; his sons, Kevin Martin (Terri) of Azle, Texas, and Brian Martin of Kalispell, Montana; his grandson, Christian Martin; his stepdaughters, Kellie Morton (Mike) and Jacque McCollum; and his grandchildren, Taylor and Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Greenwood’s Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; with a visitation one hour prior to service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow services in Greenwood Memorial Park.
