Texas A&M football earns first-place vote in AP Top 25

  • October 26, 2025

(KBTX) – The Texas A&M football team remained at No. 3 in Sunday’s AP Top 25, but earned a first place vote after beating No. 20 LSU 49-25 in Tiger Stadium Saturday.

The Aggies are one of three teams to garner a first-place vote, behind No. 1 Ohio State (54) and No. 2 Indiana (11).

Last week, Ohio State earned 60 first place votes and Indiana received six.

The last time the Aggies received a first place vote was in Week 5 and 6 of the 2015 season when a 5-0 A&M squad earned the No. 9 ranking two weeks in a row. A&M lost back-to-back games in Week 7 and 8 to Alabama and Mississippi State to fall completely out of the Top 25.

The last time A&M resided in the top 3 of the AP poll was 1995. The Aggies moved into the third position in last week’s poll after knocking off Arkansas on the road.

A&M is the highest-ranked Southeastern Conference team in the poll and one of five conference teams in the top 10, including No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 7 Ole Miss and No. 9 Vanderbilt. Nine total SEC teams are in this week’s poll.

The Aggies have No. 19 Missouri and No. 20 Texas remaining on their schedule.
