The KFOX14 Severe Weather Team is tracking a backdoor cold front moving through the Borderland, bringing strong winds and the potential for blowing dust.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for parts of El Paso and Doña Ana counties, where sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected.

The strongest winds will impact West and Downtown El Paso, which is under a High Wind Warning. In these areas, gusts could exceed 60 mph.

With little to no recent rainfall, these winds may kick up areas of blowing dust, leading to reduced visibility at times.

Drivers should use caution, especially during the Friday evening commute when conditions could quickly become hazardous.

Temperatures will also drop nearly 20 degrees from yesterday, bringing highs back to around average in the 70s.

Cooler and breezy conditions will linger into Saturday before a warm up returns on Sunday.
