A little more than a year after opening its East Side location, Everybody Loves Raymond’s burger joint has abruptly closed its outpost at 2118 N. I-35 Frontage Road. The announcement came in a Wednesday morning social media post.
“As of Monday our DOWNTOWN location has closed,” the post read. “We fought hard to stay open after the new year, but it’s just not in God’s plan for us.” The Express-News reached out to the restaurant for more information but did not receive an immediate response.
The eatery’s original location at 18600 Pleasanton Road has long been a beloved South Side staple. It first opened as Alicia’s Mexican Restaurant in 1991, CultureMap reported. After current owner Raymond Diaz took over in 2013, he expanded the menu to include oversized burgers, wings, patty melts and other items alongside its classic Tex-Mex offerings.
Diaz announced the East Side location’s opening in January 2025, noting at the time that the address could be tricky to find. He warned that Google Maps might direct customers to the wrong spot and advised drivers coming from downtown to exit at New Braunfels Avenue, where the restaurant would be on the right.
The location proved easy to miss, situated next to a highway exit and often obscured by fast-moving or stalled traffic. In its closing message, the restaurant encouraged customers to continue supporting its original South Side location and other local businesses.
