AUSTIN, Texas — Austin protesters are expected to gather Saturday afternoon for a “No Kings” rally.

Protesters will gather at Austin City Hall at noon before marching to Auditorium Shores at 12:30 p.m. The event is then scheduled to last until 4 p.m., with speakers and performers all afternoon.

The event will be hosted by Hands Off Central TX, the League of Women Voters of the Austin Area and local Indivisible groups. The hosts say based on direct feedback from attendees of the city’s previous two “No Kings” rallies, this event is “intentionally designed to prioritize connection, community, and action over speeches.”

The rally will feature more than 80 organizations offering “teach-ins” and direct engagement, grouped by topics; live music and performances; two “Soapbox” areas with bullhorns for voices for participating organizations; a fully bilingual main stage with live Spanish translation; an “ICE” sculpture designed to melt during the rally; a giant Constitution installation for protesters to sign; an interactive community art installation; and a bake sale benefiting local families in need.

Featured performers include drag queen Brigitte Banditt, trans comedienne Jo Ellis, spoken word performer Dan Weber, and drag performer and creative artist Justice. Live music will be performed by Dumancas-Brouse – Jazz Call For Freedom, Jeff Dazey, Los Kurados, Singing Resistance Austin and Stephanie Fix.

Featured speakers include emcee Chas Moore with the Austin Justice Coalition, Alicia Perez-Hodge with LULAC, immigration attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, and Yasmine Smith with the Austin Area Urban League.

KVUE will stream the protest live on our streaming app, KVUE+, available on Amazon Fire, Roku and Apple TV.
