SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio International Airport is celebrating the expansion of one of its terminals.

And there is plenty to see now that it is officially open.

It is the grand opening of the Terminal A expansion, which is part of a broader modernization of the airport.

The expansion supports both domestic and international operations and will add new ground-load gates, passenger areas, and a federal inspection station for international arrivals.

The Terminal A expansion includes a multi-sensory environment, with quiet rooms and other features designed to make travel more comfortable and inclusive for all passengers.

At more than a billion dollars for the entire airport expansion, this is the largest capital improvement investment in the city’s history.

The greater:SATX President & CEO Sarah Carabias Rush released a statement on the new terminal:

greater:SATX is proud to celebrate the opening of the Terminal A Gate Expansion alongside our partners at the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio International Airport. As part of a broader terminal development program, the project reflects our region’s commitment to meeting the needs of the growing economy and supporting future expansion opportunities.
