Drivers on the Northwest Side can expect major lane closures this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation continues work on the $1.4 billion Loop 1604 expansion project.

The flyover ramps from Loop 1604 eastbound and westbound to Interstate 10 westbound will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, the agency said. The right lane of I-10 westbound will also be closed throughout the weekend from the La Cantera Parkway exit to the Camp Bullis Road exit. 

All westbound lanes of Loop 1604 will also be closed at the I-10 interchange from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Friday through Monday, but are scheduled to reopen during the day.

Drivers will need to use the following detours: 

An additional long-term closure is scheduled to start Monday in the same area: the U-turn to turn around from Loop 1604 eastbound to westbound at the I-10 interchange will be closed for approximately two weeks, TxDOT said. Drivers should instead travel through the interchange and then turn left onto the frontage road. Â
